Welcome to NextGen Aqua Farms, we're committed to sustainable food production through the use of aquaponics. Our small-scale farm is dedicated to providing the freshest, healthiest, nutrient rich leafy greens to our local community. Our dedication to you, the customer is providing produce the same day as it is harvested. You can be guaranteed in receiving the freshest product we have to offer.
Using a unique combination of aquaculture (integrated culture of fish) and hydroponics (growing without soil), we're able to grow delicious, nutrient-rich leafy greens without any harmful chemicals or pesticides.

Aquaponics is a sustainable farming method that combines aquaculture (fish farming) and hydroponics (soil-free plant cultivation). Aquaponics can be traced back to the Aztec Indians, who raised plants on rafts on the surface of Lake Texcoco around 1000 AD. Fish waste provides an organic food source for the growing plants, while the plants naturally filter the water for the fish. This creates a self-sustaining ecosystem that requires less water, less space, and fewer inputs than traditional farming methods.
At NextGen Aqua Farm, we're proud to be working closely with Lethbridge College to guide us in this innovative sustainable farming method. Their main research and work revolves around aquaponics and RAS (Recirculating Aquaculture Systems) technology where they strive to reduce the waste and enhance efficiency and productivity of aquatic food production technologies.
